IREDU is pleased to announce that it is organising a one-day seminar on 17 November 2026, entitled ‘Teaching large groups: practices, issues and challenges of the lecture at university’. The seminar will focus on two main themes:
– Theme 1: Towards a nuanced approach to the lecture and its impact on students’ academic success
– Theme 2: Reconfiguring the lecture and the teaching profession in the face of the challenges of inclusion and the digitalisation of teaching
This event is co-organised by Amélie Duguet (Université Bourgogne Europe, IREDU), Mikaël De Clercq (Catholic University of Louvain, ARES) and Pauline Born (University of Rouen Normandy, CIRNEF, IREDU), as part of a Franco-Belgian collaboration supported by the French section of the AIPU and the INSPE of Burgundy.
It will take place at the Maison des Sciences sociales et des Humanités (MSH) in Dijon, with the option to attend in person or remotely, and is aimed at all higher education professionals concerned with the challenges of teaching large groups at university.

A call for papers will be published from 25 August 2026, and the programme for the day will be announced in due course.
