This article explores recent trends in French private higher education, focusing on the emergence of « private bachelors » programs, which are intended to offer an alternative to public bachelor’s degrees and other private higher education programs. The term refers to programs that could not be called anything else and whose emergence is linked to changes in the French and European higher education landscape. Furthermore, their market and institutional positioning vary greatly depending on the institutions offering them.
