Following an analysis of 600,000 school reports for sixth-form science pupils between 2013 and 2017, Pauline Charousset, a senior economist at the Institute for Public Policy (IPP), and Marion Monnet, a senior lecturer at IREDU and a researcher affiliated with the IPP, demonstrate that, in science subjects, girls’ and boys’ academic results are assessed differently even when their abilities are equal.
