Thesis topic: The individualisation of distance learning courses using Artificial Intelligence

Supervisors: Sophie Morlaix and Claire Bonnard

Summary: The aim of this thesis is to understand the extent to which AI can be used to improve learner success in distance learning, by considering success in different dimensions (learner satisfaction, dropout prevention, certification). To this end, it will review the literature on the different types of factors that can influence the success of a training course. These factors may refer to the learner, the training course or the learner’s environment. It will then identify the indicators that can be used to identify these factors, and understand how AI can be used to provide a tailored, individualized response to learners, so as to optimize their chances of successfully completing the training course, by playing on these different indicators.
